Westfield: What is the genesis of Middlewest?
Skottie Young: A few years back I did a sketch of a youngster speaking to something in a corn field. It was type of creepy. I decided then that I wished to tell a story set in a Midwest like atmosphere as well as then it just stared to develop from there. nothing from that drawing is in this book, however that was where everything started. A quick bit doodle one day.

Westfield: What can you tell us about the lead character, Abel?
Young: He’s a youngster who’s never been outside the extremely little town he lives in. He’s a difficult worker as well as has a paper path for many years thru elementary school, into middle school. It’s just him as well as his dad as well as he struggles keeping that in different ways. other than that, you’ll just have to checked out the book! That’s the fun part.

Westfield: who are a few of the other major characters visitors will meet?
Young: I’m going to leave all the fun stuff for you to read. however right up front we satisfy Abel’s dad, Dale. as well as Abel’s… well, I don’t understand what to phone call the fox. Young: Adventure, friendship, magic, pain, loss, love… you know… all the things. Really, we are sending Abel on a journey where he’s going to deal with all the things life has to throw at us as well as see if he comes out on the other side in one piece.

Westfield: You’re working with Jorge Corona on the series. What can you state about your collaboration?

Young: I’d state Pinocchio, never Ending Story, Dark Crystal, An American Tail, trick of Nihm, as well as things like that influenced the tone as well as adventure. however nothing directly to the story elements. a few of that has come from personal things as well as some from just… anywhere concepts from. Haha.
